Kial & Company was founded in 2007 by two friends, Kim Shewalter and Alicia Wilcox Prokos. Kim was a lead designer and sourcing agent for many successful brands, among them Victoria's Secret Catalog, Disney, and Cambridge Dry Goods. Alicia worked in corporate America, mostly in marketing, and has the distinction of holding a Harvard MBA.

While enjoying much pasta and red wine following a Northwestern-Ohio State football game with their mutual friends, Kim and Alicia discovered that although each loved what they did respectively, they both had the desire to work for themselves. They discussed the possibility of doing what they always thought they could do, but, until then, had been afraid to do - start a company. Given Kim's prodigious design talent and their mutual passion for fashion, Kim and Alicia embarked on journey that ultimately would produce women's apparel that is absolutely fabulous, fun to wear, and a little bit different.

After the four-year whirlwind that followed, the kial brand (kial rhymes with dial) is now in its extremely successful fifth season. Kial better knitwear, outerwear and basics are found in fine boutiques and resorts throughout the U.S. and Canada.
